Sheila Moran ~Broker Bits~: November 2008

I think you just bought yourself a RE/MAX office...

Geez, my sister is always one step ahead of me! (that's a good thing).  Of course she said this so beautifully so why mess with something that is good, right?  Thank you sister...

Via Kristin Moran ~ San Antonio, Texas ~ Real Estate:

My Sister Sheila and I stumbled on a great opportunity this month that we couldn't pass up.  In these times of uncertainly, it is important to see the forest for the trees and position ourselves where we want to be when the pendulum swings.

Based on where we want that pendulum to swing, we bought the RE/MAX franchise we are currently working out of.

So, while we are very busy getting organized in our new positions we are very excited to tell you about the features of our office!

RE/MAX has been good to us, it just makes things easier when you have a good name behind you.  It's easy to imagine the degree of success you can have in real estate sales when you have the most widely recognized name in the industry behind you.  RE/MAX lists and sells more real estate than any other real estate network in the world.  We have a small, very productive office @ RE/MAX Access in Garden Ridge, Texas.

Below are some of the reasons our office is looking better than ever!:

1.  Aggressive Pay Plan - Our office offers one of the highest commission splits in the real estate industry.

2.  Top Producing Agents - Learn from the best when you work with the best!  From 100's club to Platinum, RE/MAX Access has agents that produce results!

3.  Synergy - Work together with professionals who motivate each other to do their best.

4.  Support Staff - RE/MAX Access has experienced support staff available to enable you smooth transactions from the beginning of the transaction up through closing.

5.  Live Phone System - We believe the best way to assist your customer is with personal service-no annoying computer prompts to wait for when you or your clients call. Your benefit is immediate action and quick response. RE/MAX Access has invested in our phone system, which offers enough phone lines to guarantee that you will never get a busy signal. In addition to the office phone number, each agent has his/her own separate direct line and call forwarding at no extra charge.

6.  Friendly & productive atmosphere - Our office promotes an atmosphere of trust, respect and camaraderie. Our purpose is to maintain an environment that optimizes the ability of each and every sales Associate.

7.  Great location - Conveniently located in North East San Antonio with easy access to all surrounding cities.

The office of RE/MAX Access is like no other, large office spaces, quiet location & a relaxing, supportive atmosphere.  Work here or work from home, we've got what you need...Compare your office to RE/MAX Access!  Call us for more information on joining a winning team of Agents @ RE/MAX Access.

My drive home and politics~

Let me set the scene....my drive home is beautiful.  There is tons of open land, cows, trees and great sunsets (for when I work too late!)...my phone doesn't work during this section of land and therefore I can't talk to anyone so, for about 10 minutes it's NO BUSINESS!  It's a nice time to "check out"

If you missed my first post about my drive home and the election, check it out here:

Seems that the guy that was so busy before the election putting up all of the political pieces has been very quiet for the last couple of weeks.

I have been kind of missing our little cat and mouse game with me stopping by to take photos.  I can only image that he's been in shock trying to get used to what happened politically.

But, he's back in action again.  This is what I saw yesterday....

Gosh, I'm still proud to live in a country where we can speak our minds!

Sick of procrastinating?

I was hoping that all of my fabulous AR compadres would help me give a warm welcome to Newbie, Cheryl Fairbanks of Inspiring Success.  Cheryl is a very effective coach for Top Realtors in Texas (and Ireland).  She has great ideas, a solution to almost every problem opportunity and is a mentor to many.

Via Cheryl Fairbanks:

Brian Tracy's great book, Eat That Frog, is a 117 page rapid read that will set you free. In the preface, he immediately eases your mind writing "The fact is that you are never going to get all caught up!" His title is based on Mark Twain's advice of "If the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satsfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long."

3 quick steps to ending procrastination Tracy teaches are:

1 - As soon as you wake each morning, think for a moment of your great big dream. Why are you doing what you do for a living? What are you passionate about?

2 - Next, even before getting up, ask yourself, "What is the single most important thing I MUST do today to ultimately reach that goal?"

3 - Do it FIRST! Eat that frog and enjoy the rest of the day knowing that you're moving in the direction of your goals....and enjoy the ride!

I love to read and will keep you updated on some great tips from the greatest books so that you don't have to read them all. I also would love your recommendations of your favorite read.

Empowering the people around you~

My sister and I went to the STAR POWER leadership University in Chicago in September (yes, I'm sure you have seen the posts about our fun).  However, one really smart thing that we did was join up for the coaching that came AFTER the class.  Believe me, this is not one of those classes that you attend, buy the stuff and come home and put up in the bookcase never to be seen again....Oh, no.   This class is larger than life! (at least my real estate life).

So, today was my first coaching call with my group.  Our first assignment that had to be done (prior to the call) was to read the book The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell.  Now, I'm telling you that if you are going to take your Leadership learning to the next level that this book is NOT an easy read.  I had to re-read, highlight and go over again until this stuff STUCK in my mind.  Mind you that there are 21 different lessons and each one of them is so important to the other yet, they all stand alone (all at the same time, how does that happen?).

I won't go through all of the 21 lessons (that's for you to get the book and find out for yourself), but for my team, I think the biggest thing that I learned from this book was the LAW OF EMPOWERMENT.  Yes, we all know that we need to "let go" but, for some of us control freaks (that's me, ask my sis...) it's really hard to change how you view things and just let it "be".  I know that I have some of the BEST people on my Team, yet I seem to think that my way (guess cause I've been doing it so long!) is the best way....when really, their ideas, creativity and implementation is SOOOO much better than mine (and makes me even look better!).

So, this is my first priority.  To hold myself back, allow someone else to step up to the plate and WATCH them swing that bat!....what do you know, Home Run is guaranteed!

I implore you to try also.... Let me know how it goes.

Tuesday is Here! Wishful thinking?

Tuesday is Here!

I can't tell you how many people have expressed to me their desire to have this day finally be here!  YIPPEE!

Now, maybe the bickering can stop and we can go back to being neighbors and citizens and work together as a country?....this is my wish for today.

What's your wish for our country? (or do I dare ask?)
