Thought I would post this picture of my most recent vacation. Let me set the scene. It's a beautiful 28 degree day in Vail, Colorado. We are on the slopes hitting it hard. My family and I are skiing all together and trying to get down the mountain.
My eldest Son leads the way. We blindly follow. We end up on an un-groomed run with power UP TO MY HIPS! Its' getting late in the afternoon and the sun goes behind the mountain so it's getting darker and darker. It starts to snow. We are now starting to freeze. We are on a run that obviously NOBODY else took, because it's just the four of us...trying to drag ourselves out of the snow. Wasn't easy.
Over 45 minutes later we crawl our way out of the run only to have to ski down the rest of the mountain. The word exhausted doesn't even begin to explain how we are feeling. At the time I was nervous. I thought this is how people really hurt themselves, late in the day, unknown territory, unguided, clueless leader, bottom line was that we were not prepared.
Had I know that we were going to run into this mess I would have at least brought some snacks!
How does any of this correlate with real estate and making that purchase? It's easy.
Don't go barreling down the slope that you are unfamiliar with. Don't go without an informed Leader, do your research, be prepared. Know what your buying power is by getting pre-qualified. Your leader needs to be qualified, experienced and have your best interest at hand.
Call me, I'll help you navigate the "slopes" of real estate!
Don't think this picture needs any more words....it says it all!

Terrific analogy - made my stomach squeamish just imagining........i felt your pain, lol
Shelia,
What a great story and analogy for both the buyer and seller. Even tho I have never been skiing I can see where you would need to be prepared.
Happy Mothers Day ma'am.
Liz-Thanks, didn't think we would make it down that mountain (let's just say that my legs were screaming!)
Don-you gotta try it one day...just ski groomed slopes and your good!
Dang, that looks cold!! THat kid always knows where he's going, he would steer you wrong??!!
Priceless post and photo, Sheila!
Sheila, great connection between skiing and home buying. That's quite an adventure you shared with us!
