So, this past Friday night we were all up late! At about 10:30 we started talking about it. What is it that I'm talking about? The new FACEBOOK personal URL's.
I was so excited (geez, it's obvious that I didn't have BIG plans Friday night!) that they were going to implement the URL's cause I thought it was an easier way for people to find each other online.
I've had a few instances were I went to go search for someone and I couldn't find them cause I didn't put their name is JUST as it's entered. Let's take my name for example. I use Moran as my business name, but in my personal life I use Moran Stanush (maiden and married). So, if you were going to do a search on just Moran you wouldn't find me. Vice versa for the people that only know me as Stanush (yes, I know it's difficult and what's with all the names, but believe me, it's easier this way!) would never be able to find me. Now I can tell them how to find me. This was especially true for all of my high school peeps that ONLY knew me as Moran.
My husband uses his middle initial, well, if you didn't KNOW what his middle initial was you were going to have to seek him out...and possible not find him.
The bottom line is that it was a search before. You could never to straight to the source... WELL, NOW YOU CAN.

Then this morning I wake up to read this on my facebook from the "official" REALTOR Referral Group on FACEBOOK. They do a shout out to all to get their new "vanity" URL's......huh? Heavens, I had no idea that I spent my Friday night working away and doing the count down for a VANITY name?
I don't think of them as VANITY URL's, I think of them as a smart way for me to find and connect with people that normally I may not have been in touch with or be able to reach through different groups that I'm involved in.
It's another avenue of reaching out and touching someone (I know I sound like a greeting card, but it's the truth).
So, you decide? Is it good business sense or VANITY?

It was much like the Land Rush Active Rain had; everyone was sitting at the puter waiting for the count down. Ceil and I was not quite sure we knew what we were doing; the clock kept saying four minutes, three minutes and you were saying you already had your designer name. Ummm how did that happen. I got mine Saturday morning after reading K's post. I have been living under a rock or something, didn't even know about this.
It does make it much easier to find someone. As you mentioned, you would have to do a search last time for someone. And although you can still search now if you dont know their name, it makes it a little easier when sharing it with someone. Before you would have to attach your link to an email or website. So, I take it that you have yours now. I forgot about it until I read Kristin's post.
