Stoney Creek Ranch in New Ulm, Texas ~

Stoney Creek Ranch, New Ulm, Texas

Last week we dropped off the kids for their first every week long camp.  It was in New Ulm, Texas.  Err, I had to look that one up.  About 2 hours west of Houston if that helps!

It's beautiful, filled with pine trees, the air is crisp and clean.

We pulled into the big impressive gates and were greated by counselors that asked if they could take the boys' bags.  Huh?  I looked at my kids and said, "when I went to camp, we had to drag our overpacked bags to our mosquito infested, screened in hut that had one bare bulb in the middle of the room that had about 12 bunk beds."....no, joke.  This is my equivelent to my Mom's "had to walk through the snow to get to school story"....but her's is true!

The lodge is even more spectacular.  I was looking at my husband asking him "why are we not staying at this resort ourselves?".   The cabins that the boys slept in were river stone "ranch style" that boasted of AIR CONDITIONING!   Wow, talk about living it up!

Thought I would share a few photos for you.

I have to say that I LOVE that people put a big star on their house. Im from California and have been here for 5 years now. Im so proud to be in Texas that I too have a Star (large) in my walkway. Its great that so many are proud to be Texans.

OK, I never went to camp. Probably because I lived on a 200 acre ranch...that was enough "camp."

But I'd be happy to attend THIS one...pool and all!

Hope the kids have a great time and learning experience while they are here!

And Hope you and your hubby get some "quality time" while the kids are away!
