A tale of 3 woman ~ and breast cancer ~ the results are in

Not sure if you missed the first part of this story?

If so, you can catch up here A tale of 3 women ~ and breast cancer

After 39 days of agony, I got the phone call late today.   My breast surgeon telling me that the lump that I have been fretting about IS NOT CANCEROUS.  It will however, need to be removed.  The removal part I can handle.

The cancerous possibility was getting harder and harder to ignore, pushed to the back of my mind, thinking positive, kiss or hug my little boys without breaking a tear of could of been, should've been, would've been.

So, What do I do now?  I'm a changed woman.  I tell you my first post was about 3 woman living our lives until one by one we encounter a possibility of something cancerous.

Woman #1 has it and the decisions that go with that outcome.  Woman #2 will have her lump removed.  Mine, in time will be removed also.

I'll tell you what I'm going to do:  At the Komen Race for the Cure, I will again this year, walk (hell, maybe run!) for my friends as well as my "sisters" that have fought this fight many times before me and I will do so not thinking that "it can't touch me, it doesn't run in my family or I'm not a high risk"...never AGAIN will I have those thoughts.

39 DAYS of pondering, guessing, praying and praying some more will make me remind everyone again and again "go get your annual", don't think that it can't happen to you.

p.s. Thanks for all of the prayers :)

Sheila, I'm so very happy to hear it was not cancerous.  It is amazing how many people are affected by cancer.  It's run many courses through our family and I hardly know anyone that hasn't had it affect them or their family in some way.  Good for you and like you said, make sure you get those exams every year!

I'm so glad for you, Shiela.  I have friends who are survivors and friends who fought the good fight and didn't win.  I'll pray that your lump removal goes well and you will have peace about this.

Sheila, I was thinking about you on Monday wondering if you had any news.  Having it removed will be a breeze.  Make yourself a promise never to put off your mammogram....EVER.  Glad everything worked out for you.

Sheila - We already discussed this in person, but just wanted to add my thoughts here.  So glad to hear it's not cancer and can't believe you moved through those 39 days so well.  I imagine it would be torture, but you handled it well.  I sit next door to you and never saw you break a sweat over it.  You're a strong willed woman, I knew that from the real estate side of you, but now I know it's in every side of you (business and personal).  Congratulations on the good news and we'll all be here for you at the office, whenever you need us!

Sheila,

I just read this post (part 1 & 2) and just wanted to say cograts on the good news.  We are so lucky to have such a wonderful lady in our RE/MAX family.  We (RMNSA) are very involved with Komen it makes up proud that we do these things in honor of women like you.

I hope to see you soon so I can give you a big squeeze!
