Vintage Oaks, New Braunfels, Texas ~ Get your Grape Stomp on ~

This year I participated in the 2nd annual Vintage Oaks Grape Stomp!

Vintage Oaks  is a great community located in New Braunfels, Texas right off of Hwy 46 between Hwy 337 in New Braunfels and 281North in Bulverde.

It's a big shabang!  There are all kinds of vendors out there, Builders showing their models, Dry Comal Creek is one of the main sponsors (and runs the actual stomp itself) as well as wine tasting, dancing, food and more food (tons of local restaurants showing off their favorites!)   So, when it comes around next year make sure that you join in on the fun at the Vintage Oaks, New Braunfels, Texas ~ Get your Grape Stomp on ~

My friend Kathy and I decided to be in the competition (10 other stomper teams) even though neither one of us either had any stomping experience!  I will tell you that in these photos the stomping looks fun (but according to her was lots of work), but I can tell you that the gathering of the juice (um, much harder job).   You can tell by my expression that it was so work getting the "juice" into this jug through a hose!

Our efforts paid off, we won 1st place for our flight!  So, kudos to the 2 gals that went to just have some fun!

I am going to blame my sheltered upbringin 'cause I did not know that New Braunfels had a vineyard....  I must admit it did look like fun.

Oh, Don.

You have lived a sheltered life.  There is tons of vineyards in the Hill Country near New Braunfels, Marble Falls, Fredericksburg, Garden Ridge and the like.

That's awesome, Sheila! We just had our annual Grapevine GrapeFest weekend before last. I wish I had been able to do a grape stomp... maybe someday.

It WAS fun, and I concur... you definitely had the harder (messier, stickier, less like dancing in a bucket) job! But let's do it again next year. :)

Okay, the first picture cracked me up. I kept looking at is and saying... 'thats a foot' but the other person had their hands in there (I assumed it was you). Then the second picture with you looking at the person like 'hey.. get your feet out of here'. I'm sure thats now how it went, but thats what went through my mind. I always think of Lucille Ball when I see grapes being stomped.

Looks like you had allot of fun and besides that you took home the First Prize Winner. Congratulations!

It reminded me of the I Love Lucy Show when she stopped grapes, you may be toooooo young to remember that.

I was thinking of the Lucy episode as well. But where is the party or tasting contest going to be.

I see a few "I Love Lucy" folks have already been here. The "grape stomping" episode was actually titled "Lucy's Italian Movie," filmed on March 8, 1956, and airing on April 16, 1956.
